5 Ways You Can Get Into Yoga Now!

Yoga - Just Do It!

It's the beginning of a new year. Have you made a long list of resolutions?

Perhaps you have, and perhaps getting more fit, or more healthy is somewhere near the top of that list. If you're new to yoga - I'd really suggest giving it a try!

It can be many things - very relaxing, very intense, very hot and sweaty, and always very mood changing.

Here's 5 quick tips to get you started on your yoga journey:

1 - Ask your friends, family, and coworkers - you can always ask people you know -whether in person, on Facebook, Twitter, or other social media avenues.

I'm sure you know many people who enjoy the endless benefits that yoga provides - and the most helpful way to get over the hump.

2 - Do an online search - Google is your friend. You can also search Bing, Reddit, Twitter, Facebook and many other information portals.

Yoga forums like these ones are very helpful to the newbie - Yoga Forums

3 - Start at home - I love YouTube for my yoga classes. Just do a quick search for beginner yoga and all you'll need is the will to complete your session.

Of course you can add Yoga Props like a mat, block, strap, cushion and others.

But you don't need them right away, don't let that hold you back! There are all sorts of monthly online yoga memberships as well.

4 - Go to yoga classes and events in your area - I live in Vancouver, Canada and it's a hotbed for all things yoga. You may live somewhere like this where you can literally find studios around the corner, or you may be in a small town with only a couple of studios.

Regardless, go out and try a class or a private lesson. You can search sites like Groupon for deals on monthly classes, or even try sites like Craigslist for a private yoga teacher.

5 - Test out different styles of yoga - There are so many styles of yoga - from VERY hot to VERY intense. We must do what makes us most happy in life - so focus on the practice that you actually enjoy!

And the same goes for local (or online) teachers. Find the fit that's right for you, so you keep yourself on the mat :)

I hope that this year is a great one for you and that you either take up the practice of yoga, or continue on this amazing journey of body, mind, and spirit!
